The latest batch of the Philippines’ Lead Safe Paint® (LSP®) certified products has been unveiled at the WORLDBEX 2024. This event, attended by notable figures from government, industry, civil society, and sports, highlighted the commitment of local manufacturers to environmental health and consumer safety.
Rob Emelander from SCS Global Services proudly announced, “We are pleased to announce that Alpha Chroma, Arkhon, Rain or Shine, and Welcoat paints manufactured by Asian Coatings Philippines, Inc. have passed the LSP® certification requirements. This is another big step forward toward a lead-safe future. Together with the International Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN) and EcoWaste Coalition, SCS Global Services and our independent third-party assessments allow consumers to make safe and sustainable choices for their family, friends, and selves.”
The LSP® certification is unique, verifying that a paint’s lead content does not surpass 90 ppm, aligning with the strictest global standards. The Asian Coatings certification is valid until December 2026. The certification allows the company to boost its brand reputation while prominently displaying the LSP® logo to symbolize its products’ trustworthiness and safety.
Redmond Yu of Asian Coatings articulated the company’s mission, “Asian Coatings Philippines, Inc. graciously accepts the LSP® certification… Our corporate ethos of ‘Painting a Vision of Tomorrow’ is dedicated to the millions of Filipinos who choose our brands to add colorful protection to their homes.”
The certification has garnered applause from various stakeholders which commend the industry’s movement towards eliminating lead in paint production. This achievement resonates well beyond the industry, positively impacting public health and environmental conservation.
DENR’s Assistant Secretary and PPCAI leaders congratulated Asian Coatings, emphasizing that such certifications set a high bar for corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship. This endeavor safeguards consumer health and is a beacon for other companies to strive for similar accolades.
Jeiel Guarino of IPEN and Manny Calonzo of the EcoWaste Coalition both acknowledged the pivotal role of LSP® certification in protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children, from lead exposure, thus endorsing a healthier future.
