WATCH how the Filipino diaspora is coping and thriving as Barangay New Zealand goes live on ApnaTV-36 and is made available on YouTube’s Philippine Diversity Channel (PhD).
The Filipino TV show is Auckland-based content creator and educator Kuya Rene Molina’s new platform for his 13-year-old program, Barangay New Zealand, which started in November 2008 as a community radio show in Hamilton. The same show went online on webcast and podcast during the first local lockdown in 2020.
Barangay New Zealand’s new platform on television is the second Filipino-themed show on ApnaTV-36 after Molina set up the first Filipino TV show on the same channel in early 2021, the “Super Pinoy E-Kwento Mo with Kuya Romy Udanga“.
In the pilot episode of Barangay New Zealand on ApnaTV-36 aired on November 15, Rene Molina introduces the program as one that presents Pinoys in New Zealand as well as what is happening in the Philippines.
The episode presented the Filipino Community Voice of Noel Camacho who challenged Filipino-Kiwis to show their contribution to the curbing of the COVID-19 health crisis, the Pinoy Adventurers NZ members who are angels on a mission to help people, and coffee paint artist Larry Abreno who has released two books.

The program declares “Dito, sikat kayo!” as it presents Filipino-Kiwi Newsmakers, Kulay Pinoy Trivia, among other stories of good, service, and success of Filipinos.
