The Philippines’ tennis champion Alexandra “Alex” Eala has reclaimed her International Tennis Federation (ITF) World No. 2 juniors girls rank after her twin championship wins at the 61st Trofeo Bonfiglio in Milan, Italy.
The teen tennis star moved up a notch to World No. 2 on the ITF Juniors Girls Ranking released on July 19, 2021, a day after Eala completed her sweep of the JA Milan by winning the Girls’ Singles title on July 18 and the Girls’ Doubles title with American Madison Sieg on July 17.
The 16-year-old Filipina athlete notched 2786.25 points in 30 ITF events played, enabling her to switch places with French champion Elsa Jacquemot who has 2404.25 points.
Eala trails World No. 1 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra who currently has 2991.75 points in 37 events played.
Alex Eala reclaimed the World Top 2 spot which she first clinched in 2020 after her historic final four finish during her French Open debut, a first appearance for any Filipina in the Grand Slam juniors.
Alex Eala is the reigning Doubles Champion of the French Open and Australian Open.
The Rafa Nadal Academy scholar won her first professional title at the 2021 Women’s Singles W15 Manacor in Spain and has since been moving up on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) professional rankings.
