Globe marked its annual G DAY celebration by conducting a school tour to promote digital citizenship and online safety through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP). The workshops were held at five schools across the Philippines, reaching over 1,000 students.

The program’s sessions were conducted at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, STI Caloocan, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Bintawan National High School in Nueva Vizcaya, and the University of Southern Mindanao. The initiative aimed to empower students and their communities with skills in online safety, cybersecurity, digital discernment, mental health, and sustainable technology use.
The urgency of such programs is underscored by alarming statistics. The Philippines ranks second globally in cyber tip reports on child sexual abuse, with nearly 2.8 million incidents recorded in 2022, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Globe has demonstrated its commitment to combating these challenges by blocking over 404,730 malicious sites linked to online exploitation, a 45% increase from 2022.
To address the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI), Globe expanded the DTP curriculum to include AI ethics. The 2024 LinkedIn and Microsoft Annual Work Trend Index highlight the relevance of AI, with 71% of employers preferring candidates skilled in the field.
“Educating students on digital safety is essential as they prepare for a future where technology is deeply intertwined with everyday life,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “Through our Digital Thumbprint Program, we aim to empower the youth to use technology responsibly and ethically, ensuring they are equipped for the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
Workshops included practical lessons tailored to each school. At Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, criminology students learned how to safeguard their communities from cybercrime. STI Caloocan IT students explored the responsibilities of tech-driven careers, while Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila students gained insights into navigating AI with integrity.
Globe also brought the celebration to the University of Southern Mindanao’s Pasiklaban 2024, offering informative sessions on Telco 101, WiFi 101, and DTP. In Nueva Vizcaya, Globe visited Bintawan National High School to recognize students’ dedication to education, reinforcing its belief that every child deserves opportunities to grow and dream.
Students praised the program for teaching them how to avoid scams, secure personal data, and stay safe online. Adding excitement, Globe raffled off GFiber Prepaid plans, providing fiber-fast connectivity to support the student’s academic and digital needs.
