Award-winning Broadway singer, Lea Salonga, is the next Filipino icon to be immortalized with a lifelike wax figure at the famous Madame Tussauds wax sculpture museum.

Lea Salonga has captivated audiences worldwide because of her unforgettable portrayals on stage and screen. She first gained immense recognition for her portrayal as Kim in the acclaimed Broadway musical, Miss Saigon.

The TIME100 Impact Awardee also lent her singing voice to the beloved Disney animated princesses Jasmine and Mulan. She was also the first Asian to take on the role of Eponine in the Broadway production of Les Miserables.

When my manager said this is happening, that Madame Tussauds is interested in making a wax figure of me, I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was an absolute honor and privilege to be asked. It’s fantastic!” Lea said in a clip posted on X by Madame Tussauds Singapore.

In the same video, Madame Tussauds’ sculpting team is seen getting close-up shots and measurements of Lea and cross-matching the singer’s skin tones and eye color.

Meanwhile, fellow Filipino celebrities and singers like Martin Nievera expressed joy for Lea, who commented, “Amazingly proud of you my dear!

Catriona Gray who also had her wax figure at the museum expressed her excitement and said, “Finally!!!!!

No further announcements were made regarding the schedule for the unveiling of the wax figure. But if everything goes as planned, the 53-year-old award-winning Filipino singer will be the fifth icon from the Philippines to be immortalized with a wax figure at the Madame Tussauds Museum.

Other Filipinos who have their own lifelike wax figures in the famed museum include the world-famous professional boxer Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, and actress-TV host philanthropist Anne Curtis.
