James De Los Santos has just surpassed his previous medal record after winning his 37th E-Kata Gold for this year.
The World No. 1 E-Kata player from the Philippines achieved the new record after winning his 37th gold against a Swiss opponent at the Athlete’s E-Tournament Trophy World Series #6 on November 5, 2021.
De Los Santos broke his record of 36 gold medals won in 2020, the year he first conquered the online Kata tournaments.
“Previous record finally surpassed! 37th Gold for 2021! The Athlete’s E-Tournament #6 has been concluded!” De Los Santos announced on social media.
“I finally broke my previous overall record of 36 to 37 golds this year. But I’m not finished. There are still a few more tournaments left for this year. Time to finish it strong!” the athlete from the International Shotokan Karate Federation added.
Now with 73 gold medals and still two months left in the year, De Los Santos looks to win more victories for the country.
The Philippines’ E-Kata champion has been breaking his personal bests since the start of the year, including points won in tournaments.
