Yuka Saso is now the world’s No. 5 female golfer, the highest-ranking achieved by the Filipina golf sensation in her career.
Saso, the first Filipina winner of the United States Women’s Open Championship, climbed two places to enter the top five in the latest Rolex Rankings for women released on October 11, 2021.
The 20-year-old Filipina-Japanese professional golfer rose in the rankings following her strong showing at the Cognizant Founders Cup in New Jersey, where she ended up tied for fourth place with South Korean Lee Jeong-eun.
Saso now has a 5.70 average with 222.37 points from 39 events played, placing one spot ahead of the world’s former No. 1 amateur Minjee Lee.
Saso has been on the rise in the world rankings since her historic win in the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open, which propelled her from No. 40 to No. 9 in June.
The Filipino-Japanese golf phenom was previously ranked No. 8 after finishing in the top ten of her Tokyo Summer Games debut.
