Filipino-Scottish actor Alex Diaz has landed the title role in the upcoming jukebox musical film, Glitter & Doom, his first international acting stint.
Diaz will star alongside British actor Alan Cammish in the LGBTQIA+ musical feature told through the iconic tunes of award-winning folk duo Indigo Girls.
According to the report by Deadline on September 30, 2021, Diaz plays the title character of Glitter opposite Cammish’s Doom in the film which is currently in production in Mexico City.
The Filipino-Scottish singer-songwriter and actor took to Instagram to share his excitement about his role in the international project.
“Finally able to announce my first international film #GlitterAndDoomTheMusical where i will be starring as Glitter alongside my lovely onscreen partner, the extremely talented Alan Cammish, a British actor from the UK who will be playing Doom!” Alex Diaz announced.
Billed as a fantastical summer romance, “Glitter & Doom” is directed by Tom Gustafson from a screenplay by Cory Krueckeberg and follows a “musician who wears charisma as camouflage and a carefree kid about to run away with the circus as they fall in love at first sight.”
Diaz also joins Orange Is the New Black star Lea DeLaria, The Mandalorian’s Ming-Na Wen, and Y: The Last Man’s Missi Pyle in the cast, among others.
The film is produced by Speak Productions (Tom Gustafson and Cory Krueckeberg), TBD Pictures (Broadway producer Hunter Arnold), Sin Sentido Films (Alejandra Cardenas and Feli Arce), and La Palma de Oro Films (Ale Garcia and Antonio Urdapilleta).
Filipino actors Lovi Poe and Iñigo Pascual have recently landed roles in Hollywood, while Max Eigenmann plays a Filipino immigrant in a new British-Filipino horror film.
